Hull & East Riding Snooker League

27.  The Committee is responsible for providing all players with a handicap, subject to an upper limit of +60 and lower limit of -70.

28.  For League and Top 4 Play-off fixtures, the maximum start a player may receive is 60 points.

29.  For Singles, Doubles and Team Knockout competition fixtures, no maximum start is applicable.

30.  Handicaps are affected by players’ performances in regular season League fixtures only.

31.  A player’s handicap shall reduce by one point for every table they win and increase by one point for every table they lose.

32.  A player’s handicap is also affected by the margin of victory.  Where a player wins (or loses) a table by 40 or more points, their handicap will reduce (or increase) by a further point.

33.  Divisional Controllers are responsible for reviewing and updating players’ handicaps.  Under normal circumstances, they will use performance during weeks 1 to 7 and apply the new handicaps from week 8.  They will use performance during weeks 8 to 14 and apply the new handicaps from week 15.

34.  At the end of the season, they will use performance during weeks 15 to 22 and apply the new handicaps to the start of the next season.

35.  Newly registered players will normally be given a handicap of 21.  If the Committee has a record of the player’s handicap from previous seasons, or knowledge of the player’s ability from their performance in other local snooker leagues, it may apply a different handicap.

36.  Divisional Controllers will review the performance of newly registered players and will amend their handicaps where it is evident that their performance indicates an anomaly in their handicap.  Such amendments will be in addition to those described in rule 31 and rule 32 and will normally be applied during the updating of handicaps described in rule 33 and rule 34.  In exceptional circumstances, Divisional Controllers, or the Committee, can amend handicaps of any players where it is evident that their performance indicates an anomaly in their handicap.
